Well Done, Good and Faithful!

use-it-or-lose-itMathew 25:14-28 covers the parable of the talents, at which time, a man is going on a journey and calls three of his servants together and entrusts his property to them.  To one, he gave five talents of money; to another, two; and the last, just one.  When he returned, the one who was given five invested it wisely and gained five more.  The one given two did likewise and gained two more.  The one given the one hid his out of fear of retribution, in case he would lose the one given him.  Because of his fear, the one that was given to him was taken from him and given to the one who gained five.

To the one given five and the one given two and equal gains were made, the Master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant!  You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.  Come and share in you Master’s happiness!”

May our prayer be, “Help me to make the most of what I’ve been given and to faithfully accomplish my responsibilities as a faithful steward.”
